Towed
Well...last night I was awake in my apartment around 2 a.m. and I heard what sounded like a fight because I heard a lot of people shouting. When I peeked through my kitchen window, I saw at least 20 people rioting, or at least causing some kind of havoc. Some of them were wrestling on the asphalt while others provoked the brawlers further. I ignored the antics and went to bed, but when I woke up I went outside to go drive to lunch and found my car missing. Apparently, because of the loud people disturbing the peace last night, Brookstone (my apartment complex) called for Earl's wrecker service to tow cars. Apparently I didn't have a parking pass sticker on my car and I had my car towed as well. As you can imagine it was pretty strange not having my car in my parking spot. Now I have to negotiate with the Brookstone staff to pay for my cars release. This is going to be such a hassle and I could not go where I needed tonight. People around Brookstone have been getting much more riled up lately and I hope nothing further happens. By the way, the people rioting were just expressing their inner animal and releasing the daily stress by freaking out. I just wish it could be more contained, so other people don't get screwed.

Haha, I love your post Greg. I can imagine your frustration, I would be so mad if my car got towed. Fortunately enough for me Earl has never paid me a visit. I'm curious as to what the people where rioting about, find out and get back to me in our chat this week. Hope you had a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteWow! That's crazy! Sorry that happened, Greg...I know exactly how you feel though. When I was in school at Appalachian the same thing happened to me--I was towed in my OWN parking spot at my OWN apartment and had to pay 85 dollars to get my car back. It was a mess...I was late for a test, I had to pay all of that money, and I had initially thought that my car was stolen. It was a horrible way to wake up. I'm sorry you had to deal with this!
ReplyDeleteHahah that is such a crazy story! So many people have been getting towed lately, especially in Brookstone. I'm curious to know if Brookstone agrees to pay to get your car back. Too bad you didn't have your parking sticker on your car or this probably wouldn't have happened. Overall I hope you get everything straightened out, good luck!
ReplyDeleteDang man,
ReplyDeleteThat is rough about your car getting towed. Really lame how other people rioting resulted in your car. I don't really see the need to start towing cars because of people rioting, so that's annoying. I hope you get it all figured out and get your car back soon. I don't think I would last very long without my car; hope you do better than I would!
This is one of the worst situations to be in. I was towed twice last year at the same apartment complex. That towing company got a good $325 out of me! Getting your car 'taken' away from you is like someone stripping you of your freedom. I enjoy being independent and felt like a kid again having to ask my friends to pick me up and take me to get my car. Not to mention it's expensive to get it back (how dare they charge so much to give you something that's already yours!!). I hope you were able to get your car back without much expense to your wallet.
ReplyDeleteThat's annoying! I got towed the first day I moved into my new place while moving stuff in, after being away from it for 15 minutes. After that happened I've always gotten bummed out when I hear someone's car being towed. Morally, Brookstone should feel obligated to pay your tow fee, but a lot of people dealing with college apartments have no soul, so you might have to push harder to make what's right happen.
